Festivals
Throughout the year, the City of Delphi hosts a variety of festivals and events for your family’s enjoyment.
The Canal Days festival is held every 4th of July weekend at Canal Park in Delphi with narrated trail walks, activities for children, and plenty of food. Canal transportation is celebrated at the Wabash & Erie Canal Park and Interpretive Center. In 2009, the new replica canal boat, The Delphi, was introduced. Rides are available each weekend.
The most historically significant county festival is the Old Settlers Celebration. Its roots trace back to an annual meeting of the original settlers of the county that has taken place annually since 1855! It is held Thursday through the second Saturday each August.
The most recent addition is the Indiana Bacon Festival held in Delphi on the last Saturday of August celebrating Bacon, Bands, & Brew! Live music, great food items featuring Indiana Kitchen brand bacon, family fun zone, craft beer & wine, and more. Event supports over 15 non-profit organizations and attracts visitors from all over the US.
Historic programs, special dinners, historic crafters, a carnival, and other activities are featured on the courthouse square and other venues throughout Delphi. Also downtown, the Opera House and the Opera House Gallery of Contemporary Art feature tours of the facility and an exhibition of local artists. .
To round out the year, you can celebrate an Old-Fashioned Christmas at Canal Park and enjoy music, walking trails, and homemade apple dumplings!
