Sports Association usage of Riley Park will need further discussion. An executive session will be called to take a tour of all the Parks and what is needed for the upcoming year. Usage policies and fees associated with usage will be determined at that time.

The remodeling and updates to Riley Cabin are being completed as planned. It was discussed to add a handicapped accessible toilet and also exit lighting to the cabin. Anita is going to speak to the contractors to find out a price for the two upgrades. The restroom is finished and the furnace room is enclosed, but not yet complete.  The Boy Scout side of Riley cabin is already completed.

There are two (2) trees next to Riley Cabin in Riley Park that need removed due to hazardous nature. The most urgent tree to be removed will cost $450 and the other two trees will cost $900 to be removed by Chuck Maxwell. It was discussed if funds were available in the 2010 budget for removal of these trees and Anita confirmed there were funds available. Chris made a motion to have the three (3) trees removed and Carla seconded the motion. The motion passed.

New Business

It was brought to the floor by Carla Bradshaw to move the monthly Parks Board meetings to the last Tuesday of each month, still keeping with the 4:00pm timeframe. It was discussed that pending calendar review of all Board members, this could be accommodated.

Superintendent Report

The OED energy grants had to be resubmitted as the form they provided did not provide enough information the application. The resubmission of information is due February 7th and Anita expected it to be completed and turned in by February 1st.

16 double recycle stations purchased with Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District grant funds were delivered on the 25th of January. One station was provided to the City of Delphi for placement in front of the City Building. Funds from the Parks Department were encumbered from 2009 and the 25% match was submitted for payment on Jan 27th.

Anita met with Gayle Conner who will be the Summer Rec Coordinator. Gayle and Anita are reviewing the programs for the upcoming summer. Anita also contacted the Deer Creek Township Trustee to find out the allotment of funds for the summer 2010 Rec program.

Pedometers for the proposed summer walking program were purchased at $5.00 each. However, Anita was having difficulty getting them to work. She provided each Board member with a pedometer to try this week before she contacts the manufacturer for an exchange or refund.
